Last weekend we experienced the premiere of "El Viaje de Tomasa" - an original play or 'musical' (for lack of a better word..) that we composed together as a group over an almost 2-year period of the pandemic, during which we still played together in (virtual) clasess, ensembles and home-sessions.
El Viaje de Tomasa is a story about a girl from the Chocó (the pacific coast) in Colombia, who is forced to leave her birthland and undertakes a journey through Colombia - both physical and spiritual - passing through different states of mind and body, reflected by the rythms and melodies from the different regions.
The final production became a mix of music, dance, proyections and storytelling, and our cast is made up of students of all ages, who are linked to both our sister Foundations - "Children of Medellin" in el Bello Oriente, Medellin, and Fundacion Angeles de Amor in El Carmen de Viboral.
We were finally able to perform the full play at the Casa Teatro El Poblado in Medellín, in front of a big and enthusiastic crowd, which was amazing. This production was made possible by the kind support from our friends of Foundation Music for Children in the Netherlands and all our crowdfunding supporters. To everyone of them a big Thank You!!
Here are a few short video impressions of the show (the first one is a compliation and has the best audio):
